 Understanding Non-Root Installation Limitations
Installing ReVanced without root access means you'll create a separate app alongside the original YouTube app. This approach requires MicroG for Google account functionality since the patched app can't use Google Play Services directly. The process takes longer than root methods but maintains device integrity.
 Prerequisites and Compatibility Check
- Android Version: 8.0+ required (Android 9+ recommended for better stability)
- Storage Space: 500MB for ReVanced Manager, 150MB for MicroG, 200MB for patched YouTube
- Device Architecture: ARM64 (most modern devices) or ARM32 support needed
- Memory: 3GB+ RAM recommended for smooth patching process
- Network: WiFi connection preferred for downloading original YouTube APK (100MB+)
⚠️ Important: Uninstall Existing YouTube Vanced
If you have old YouTube Vanced installed, you must remove it first to avoid conflicts. Go to Settings > Apps, find "YouTube Vanced" and uninstall. Also remove "Vanced MicroG" if present - ReVanced uses a different MicroG package (app.revanced.android.gms).
📥 Step 1: Download and Verify Files
Download these files from official sources only to avoid malware or compromised versions:
- ReVanced Manager v2.0.1+ - The patching tool
- MicroG v0.3.1.4.240913+ - For Google account sign-in
Verification tip: Check file sizes - ReVanced Manager should be around 1.3MB, MicroG around 40MB. Significantly different sizes may indicate fake files.
⚙️ Step 2: Configure Unknown Sources
Modern Android versions require app-specific permissions for APK installation:
- Open Settings > Apps & notifications > Special app access
- Select "Install unknown apps"
- Choose your file manager (e.g., "Files" or "Downloads")
- Toggle "Allow from this source"
- Repeat for any browsers you'll use for downloads
Step 3: Install MicroG (Critical First Step)
MicroG must be installed before patching YouTube. This provides Google Services functionality without requiring Google Play Services:
- Install the MicroG APK you downloaded
- Open MicroG and tap "Self-Check" to verify installation
- Enable "Google device registration" if prompted
- Grant location permissions if you use location-based YouTube features
- Don't sign in to Google yet - wait until ReVanced is installed
️ Step 4: Install and Configure ReVanced Manager
- Download ReVanced Manager APK
- Install the APK file on your device
- Open ReVanced Manager
- Grant storage and other required permissions
- The app will check for updates automatically
🎯 Step 5: Patch YouTube APK
Use ReVanced Manager to create your custom YouTube ReVanced APK:
- Open ReVanced Manager
- Tap "Patcher" tab
- Select "Select an application"
- Choose YouTube from the list (or download it automatically)
- Select patches you want to include
- Tap "Patch" and wait for the process to complete
- Install the generated ReVanced APK
🔧 Step 6: Configure ReVanced Settings
After installation, optimize your ReVanced experience:
